What is Myofascial Release (MFR)?
MFR is a hands on approach, similar to massage but differs in application. There is no oil/lotion applied during MFR. Instead the therapist uses their hands to pull the Fascia tissue to provide an elongation and release of the tissue. To be completely effective the holds are held for 3-5 minutes. This is when you see the Fascia system begin to lengthen, increasing its fluidity and creating a piezoelectric phenomenon. The fascia system runs head to toe, no beginning or end, completely connected.
Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch in the fascia directly impacting tissue connected.
Most therapies approach the muscular or skeletal system, but without releasing the fascia restriction the body can go back into a freeze mode. Tighten back up when gravity takes effect.
MFR is an unique therapy individualized to each client. Each person is assessed prior to session and the MFR pulls are applied in what they need.
